Work is underway on our next release – our 2nd CD compilation. We’ll be donating the CD’s to autism non-profit organizations who’d like to partner with us. The orgs will be able to give the CD’s as thank you gifts to people making direct donations, at fundraising events, etc.

We’re also releasing our music through partner orgs who are donating tablet and smart phone devices to individuals with autism. The music will be pre-loaded onto each device.

Android4Autism

During a phone conversation with fellow ASD dad Rob Gorski, he described his new project called Android4Autism – a benefit project to get Android-based smartphones and tablet devices into the hands of children with autism in need. The devices are customized ahead of time by Rob to put only appropriate applications on the devices. The devices and apps will help kids with their daily therapy and/or to use as a speech aid where necessary. I loved the idea and immediately offered up our music catalog to be pre-loaded onto each device. Rob and I have a lot in common and I respect his passion and his commitment to his family. I’m proud to have Acoustic for Autism involved in such a great project! – Louis

Darryl Strawberry Foundation

The DSF’s mission is “To ensure quality of life for individuals affected by autism through the development of programs that focus on special education, socialization, and independent skills training in a structured learning and caring environment.”

Grammy-nominated producer/composer/arranger/cellist Philip Peterson has donated a track titled “Bach Revisited” to Acoustic for Autism and we’re offering it exclusively on our Bandcamp page as a free download.

Philip has produced for Portugal The Man and The Posies, among others and most recently performed strings for Owl City which reached #1 on the Top 40 for several weeks and went multi-platinum. The track was mastered by Grammy-winning engineer Toby Mountain at Northeastern Digital.

The Manhattan Children’s Center

We’re happy to announce we’re contributing to a fundraiser to benefit The Manhattan Children’s Center, a non-profit school in New York City “whose mission is to provide treatment and education to children between the ages of 3-18 on the autism spectrum”. We’re happy to announce a new partner organization: Fab Avec Amour. “Fab Avec Amour” is a 501 (C) 3 fashion-based charity organization based in Chicago and founded in June 2008 by Loni Willis. Through the “spirit of love” this foundation uses fashion, music and other entertainment related projects to increase awareness of Alzheimer’s disease, Autism and Breast Cancer.

Michael Gurley is an American musician whose musical talents have been featured in many successful rock bands including dada and Butterfly Jones, although he is best known as the guitarist of the rock band dada. He also performs in Mike Gurley and the Nightcaps. In his more than 30-year career, Michael has published over 200 songs and has sold over 1,000,000 records. His extensive resume includes composing the theme song for Disney’s “American Dragon: Jake Long”, and his music can be heard in many motion pictures including “The Brady Bunch Movie.”

Denver, Colorado-based singer/songwriter Christopher Child grew up in a house full of music but started playing guitar and singing at the relatively late age of 17 and never pursued music as a career until years later. He now performs both as a solo artist and as the guitarist/vocalist for the rock band Mother Lode. “Iʼm honored that Acoustic for Autism asked me to contribute “Wishes”. If I can help raise awareness about autism, and that includes my own awareness, then Iʼll write a whole albumʼs worth of material…”.

Sofia Talvik was born on an island just off the west coast of Sweden. At 18 she left behind the comforts of home for the bright lights and lonely nights of Stockholm where every experience, good and bad, would become one of her beautiful, funny and heartbreaking songs. After releasing a low key but critically acclaimed EP, Sofia set to work on her debut album Blue Moon which was released in 2005. As a writer, artist and producer she oversaw every step of the process. She quickly followed up her debut with Street Of Dreams in 2007, Jonestown in 2009, Florida in 2010, and a lot more on the horizon. Sofia has been compared to artists such as Joni Mitchell, Nico, Aimee Mann, and Tori Amos, but her sound and style are still unique and fresh.
